General working hours for tasks causing noise and vibration

(according to the City of Turku decision of 16 June 2026, valid until 30 September 2026)

  • Construction and demolition work causing normal construction noise: weekdays 7:00–20:00

  • Earthworks and foundation works: weekdays 7:00–18:00

  • Piling works: weekdays 8:00–18:00
    (during the school summer holiday period until 10 August 2026: 9:00–18:00)

  • Drilling and blasting related to rock excavation: weekdays 8:00–18:00
    (during the school summer holiday period until 10 August 2026: 9:00–18:00)

  • Concrete crushing: weekdays 9:00–17:00

  • Heavy mechanical breaking works: weekdays 7:00–18:00
    (during the school summer holiday period until 10 August 2026: 9:00–18:00)
     

No work is carried out on public holidays or equivalent days.

The use of machinery and equipment causing disturbing noise, as well as heavy vehicle traffic, is prohibited between 22:00 and 7:00 unless there are compelling and justified reasons.

To reduce noise, vibration and dust, the site uses noise barriers, vibration monitoring and dust control measures.

Upon request, information on the timing of blasting operations will be provided in advance.

About the project

The Kaskia Wellbeing Block is being developed to meet future housing, care and community living needs in the heart of Turku.

It will combine homes, wellbeing services and shared spaces – creating a natural meeting place for everyday life.

The project is being developed by Stiftelsen Eschnerska Frilasarettet, a Turku-based foundation, in collaboration with C.G. Sundell’s Foundation.

Construction began in 2025, with the first buildings scheduled for completion in 2027.

Temporary traffic arrangements on Kaskenkatu on Wednesday 23 September

Temporary traffic arrangements will be in place on Kaskenkatu by the Kaskia wellbeing quarter construction site on Wednesday 23 September. 

Roof trusses for the weather protection will be assembled at the construction site and lifted onto the roof of the building using a mobile crane. During the lifts, traffic on Kaskenkatu will need to be stopped temporarily. Traffic controllers will stop traffic when necessary for a maximum of approximately two minutes at a time.

Otherwise, vehicles and buses will be able to pass the construction site as usual.

Pedestrians will be directed to the other side of Kaskenkatu for the duration of the work. The work area will be cleared and the pedestrian route restored at the end of the working day.

According to the current plan, similar arrangements will be needed again in approximately one week. We will provide further information once the exact date has been confirmed.
