Construction site update for Weeks 27–31

Construction work at the Kaskia Wellbeing Block will continue throughout the summer. Despite the holiday season, work is progressing in several parts of the site. As the project has advanced and work phases have been refined, the final piling phase of the quarter is now expected to begin during Week 28.

Several construction activities are taking place simultaneously across the site. General excavation works continue in the parking garage, together with the construction of the watertight wall between the Kaskia 55+ building and the new extension of the social and health centre. Work to ensure the watertightness of the bedrock and soil also continues.

- The parking garage is the most technically demanding part of the entire project. As the work has progressed, we have had to refine the sequence of construction activities. According to the current schedule, piling for the Kaskia 55+ building will begin during Week 28. The first phase of the piling work will last approximately one week. After that, preparations will begin in the next piling area, and the piling works are expected to be completed by the end of July, says Matti Koivu, Site Manager at Lujatalo.

The piling rig will be delivered to the construction site on Monday, 6 July, at approximately 5:00 a.m. The transport will take place in accordance with the authorities' instructions, as special transports of this size are not permitted during normal weekday traffic. Piling work will begin after the delivery and will occasionally cause noise in the area surrounding the construction site. The work will be carried out on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Work progresses in the Tower Building and the social and health centre

Inside the Tower Building, construction work continues at a good pace while façade rendering progresses according to plan. The new balconies have been installed, and surface finishing of the façade facing Kaskenkatu has begun. Step by step, the building is taking on its new appearance.

In the existing section of the future social and health centre, construction of the new facilities continues alongside the final demolition works, which are now nearing completion.

Rendering of the gable wall facing Sirkkalankatu 34 / Berggatan 8 A began during Week 27. To enable the rendering work, part of the carport on the neighbouring property has been dismantled. Once the rendering work has been completed, the carport will be rebuilt as planned.

Construction site during the summer holiday period

Construction work will continue throughout the summer. Work on site will continue according to plan throughout the holiday season.

Lujatalo's Site Manager Matti Koivu will be on annual leave during Weeks 28–29 and 31–32. During Weeks 31–32, Raimo Oinas will serve as Acting Site Manager.

We thank our neighbours for their patience during the construction works and wish everyone a wonderful summer.
