Site update for weeks 15–16
Work at the Kaskia Wellbeing Block construction site continues with earthworks, foundation works, and renovation of the existing buildings.
Drilled piling for the parking facility is expected to be completed by the end of April. Most of the piles have already been installed (330/356), and piling along Kaskenkatu is complete.
Installation of the sheet pile wall for the parking facility will begin after Easter and is expected to take approximately two weeks. The sheet pile wall is part of the parking facility construction and will be installed along Kaskenkatu (next to the property at Kaskenkatu 15 B) and along Itäinen Pitkäkatu. This phase of work will cause noise mainly between 8:00 and 16:00.
– The sheet pile wall along Itäinen Pitkäkatu can only be installed once the drilled pile wall at the Plootuseppä boundary has been completed, says Site Manager Matti Koivu from Lujatalo.
Blasting works will continue at the earliest during week 17, most likely in week 18. The exact timing will be communicated separately. The works will be carried out in accordance with safety regulations and will cause occasional noise and vibration.
The construction site follows the working hours defined in the noise permit. More detailed information is available on the project website.
During the summer, steel piling will also be carried out for the foundations of the new residential building to be constructed in the courtyard. This phase will cause occasional noise.
– The exact schedule will be communicated once confirmed, says Koivu.
Inside the buildings, both construction and demolition work are progressing in phases. Demolition in the tower building is nearing completion, while demolition in the hospital building will continue during the spring. From week 16 onwards, work will continue on the Sirkkalankatu side.
Work at the site will continue throughout the summer. Activity will be quieter during weeks 28–29 due to the holiday period.
We thank our neighbours for their patience during the construction of the Kaskia quarter.
