Construction site update – weeks 3–4
At the Kaskia Wellbeing Block construction site, blasting work will continue weekly at least until the end of January. During the blasting phase, normally 3–6 explosions are carried out per day. Half of the rock has already been blasted.
Before each blast, a warning signal (several short beeps) is given. Blasts are short and monitored by experts. Vibrations are continuously measured and recorded.
– The permitted vibration levels have not been exceeded to date, says the site manager Matti Koivu.
Other ongoing works on site
Other earthworks continue simultaneously. Piling and drilling works will continue, also on the yard towards Kaskenkatu. These works may, in addition to noise, cause dust and temporary soiling of nearby properties. The construction site is responsible for cleaning.
Demolition work continues in the Tower building and the old hospital building (future Kaskenmäki health centre). In a few weeks, construction work indoors will begin in parallel with the demolition.
Turku Energia’s district heating excavations on Kaskenkatu affect local traffic arrangements and may cause occasional noise.
We apologise for any disturbances and thank you for your patience.
