Site update weeks 5–6
Construction work at Kaskia Wellbeing Block is progressing according to plan. Next week (week 5), the earthworks will focus mainly on preparing for the next phase of blasting, which is expected to start in week 6. At the same time, stone and soil are being removed from the site, and piling work continues as before.
About two-thirds of the blasting work for the parking garage has been completed. In the next phase, blasting will be carried out for both the courtyard parking garage and the rock sections inside the old hospital building.
Construction and demolition
Alongside the earthworks and ongoing demolition, indoor construction work will start in week 5 in the hospital building, where the new wellbeing centre will be built. Demolition and removal of debris continue simultaneously in other parts of the building and in the Tower building. Construction work is planned to start in week 9 in the Tower building as well, which will contain modern apartments.
Other work
Excavation for the sewer connection on Sirkkalankatu will start in week 5. Previously announced district heating works by Turku Energia on Kaskenkatu, as well as water and sewer connections, are now completed. The manhole for the sewer line has been filled, and the district heating trenches are expected to be filled within approximately two weeks.
